Welcome to my site! My name is Sam MacDonald and I have been gardening professionally since 2007 when I started my HND in Medicinal horticulture at Hadlow college in Kent. Since 2008 I have been running my business, The Cottage Gardener. I specialize in informal and naturalistic gardens emphasizing the planting instead of the design.

More generally, I try to make this blog an expression of my 3 passions- cooking, gardening and travelling and I hope my passion for them comes through in my posts.
